Eric Bryant began his career in 1992 as a Dispatch Officer with the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office located in Tallahassee, Florida. In 1998, he earned certification as a Fire Safety Inspector and transferred to the Florida Bureau of Fire Prevention enforcing the state’s fire codes. Eric conducted construction inspections for new, state-owned, or state-leased properties and aided with state fire codes at the request of local fire departments and governments. With over 200 fire safety standards, the complexity of these inspections requires expertise in construction techniques, fire alarms, smoke evacuation systems, and water-based fire protection systems. Upon obtaining his law enforcement certification in 2009, Eric was promoted to Detective with the Bureau of Fire, Arson, & Explosives Investigations (BFAEI). During his tenure, he conducted over 600 fire origin and cause investigations involving a variety of crimes ranging from larceny to homicide. Beyond the fire scene investigation itself, Eric was also responsible for interviewing witnesses and suspects, identifying and arresting perpetrators, and providing expert testimony regarding his investigations in both depositions and trials. In 2019, Eric relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where he worked for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff. He was responsible for the safety of the visitors and citizens of the county as well as investigating various crimes affecting them. He joined the team at Jack Ward Fire Consultants in 2021 where he works as a fire consultant conducting fire and explosion investigations across North and South Carolina. Eric is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and is court qualified as an expert in the field of fire origin and cause investigation.
