In 2002, Jason Herrman began his law enforcement career with the Casselberry Police Department where he achieved the rank of Corporal. After investigating several fire related cases, Jason accepted the position of Detective with the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations (BFAEI) in Orlando, FL. During his time with the agency, Jason became involved in training new detectives and fire department personnel on fire origin and cause and the roles and responsibilities of fire personnel during an investigation. Achieving the rank of Captain in 2013, Jason was selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) to attend the prestigious, FBI National Academy, class #256 in Quantico, Virginia. Here, Jason learned executive level management training for psychology, media relations, and conflict resolution. After retiring from the Bureau in 2020, Jason joined the team at Jack Ward Fire Consultants.

Jason has taught many courses at the Florida Fire Marshal and Inspectors Association, including “Learn and Burn, Vehicle Fire Investigations”. He has investigated or led many multi-million dollar losses and homicides. He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators and is recognized by the courts as an expert in the field of fire investigation utilizing his vast knowledge involving fire and explosions. Jason is Pro Board certified and has received his certification as a Fire Investigator I & II with the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bureau of Fire, Standards, and Training.
