Toyota has issued a recall affecting 2016-2018 Prius vehicles. Approximately 192,000 vehicles in the U.S. will be involved in this recall. A portion of the wiring harness could come in contact with the cover at the Hybrid Vehicle Power Control Unit connection which can short circuit and may result in an engine compartment fire.

According the National Highway and Safety Administration’s website, Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine wire harness assembly and replace it if damage is found. A protective sleeve or protective tape will be included to prevent any future damage. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall is
expected to begin September 28, 2018.
