In 1983, after having completed six years in the Florida Army National Guard as a decorated Sergeant, Al became an entry-level firefighter with the Tampa Fire-Rescue Department. As he continued his work in the National Guard, he worked tirelessly within the fire department, learning the skills required to become a successful and respected firefighter and member of a Tampa Fire engine company. From that point forward, Al would hone his skills and progress through the ranks in his chosen career until his retirement as Chief of Investigations some twenty-seven years later, supervising the division and personnel responsible for all fire and explosion investigations throughout the city. In 2011, after his retirement from the fire department, Al moved to the private sector of fire investigations and continues to develop his chosen career path and standing within the fire investigation industry. Al is accepted by the courts as an expert in the field of Fire Origin and Cause Investigation and is a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators.
